funny faces

We had a little mini shoot to get some Easter pics of the kids.  They were not into it!  I did get a couple of winners (to be posted later)....but here are some of the "out takes".  I just can't help but laugh!

the best place to sleep

I really have no words for this.  My heart flutters when I see my baby girl sound asleep and comfy on her daddy.  Its just that happy heart feeling! ♥  I wish they stayed this precious forever!

a scenic drive

I totally forgot how gorgeous the drive over to coast is during this time of year!  Everything was so green and wild flowers were popping up all over.  And....old barns everywhere!!  {squeal}  Unfortunately, I didn't have the camera ready for most of them, but I was able to get a shot of this one on Hwy 46.

Engine 64

The hubby and I went to Pismo last weekend for a quick little get-away.  (Which was FABULOUS, by the way.)  On our way out of town on Sunday we got to see the Cal Fire/Pismo Beach guys in action.  Notice the surf board on the back?  How awesome is that?!  I told the hubs he needs to put in a transfer to THAT station and we'll move over there.  I think its a great idea!

organized?

Well, Mr. OCD is at it again.....I went into Luke's room to get him up in the morning and found this hilarious site.  Luke had his cars, tractors, and trucks perfectly lined up from largest to smallest.  I wish I had a wider angle camera lens because the line is actually longer than what you can see here.  He is VERY particular about how things must be, from the way he lines up cars, to the way his blanket has to be on him...its pretty funny!  I know many of you already saw this on Facebook, but it was definitely blog worthy!

8 monts of cuteness

Our little Madison turned 8 months old on March 21st.  We finally had nice enough weather for me to dress her up and get some 8 month pictures.  She is sitting up all by herself now, combat crawling all over the house, and plays patty-cake all the time.  She's growing so fast and we are enjoying every moment!

Project 365 Day 91 - 4/1/11

girls are sweet, boys are....well, boys!

I must say there is a huge difference between girls and boys!  Besides the obvious....take for example this picture.  I was holding Madi in my lap and Frankie was laying next to us.  Madi gently put her hand on Frankie and just held it there, and Frankie was totally cool with it.  (It was so sweet, I had to take a pic with my cell phone!) If that had been Luke, I would have been prying him off the dog as he squishes her and tries to pull her ears and tail off.  She would have been growling and hair would be flying everywhere!  THAT is the difference between my girl and boy!

:: madi ::

My most favorite part about taking pictures of my Madi girl is her eyes.  They are crazy blue and just sparkle!  So blessed to have two perfect and healthy children!!

Project 365 Day 79 - 3/20/11

:: cousins ::

We attempted a "cousins" picture a few weeks ago with Madi, James, and Luke.  Its literally impossible to get 3 kids under 3 to all be happy and look in the direction of the camera, all at the same time!  Its a good thing they are all super cute!

Project 365 Day 78 - 3/19/11

pizza and pbr

The PBR (Professional Bull Riding) was in town again and Luke couldn't be more excited to see cowboys and buckin' bulls!  We met the King Family for dinner and then took our 3 rowdy boys to the event.  It was kind of a late night for our little guys, but we had a great time!  So, guess what we have recorded on our DVR now??  PBR shows!  And how many times a day do we have to watch them?  Way too many!!

This picture was actually taken by Jeff with my phone while we were at dinner....I bet you're all surprised to finally see me on the other side of the camera! : )

cloudy sunrise

I took this picture on my way to work one morning.  It was just after a rain as the sun was coming up.  The sun was peaking through the clouds and shining on the mountains waaaay in the back.  It was really pretty!

rough day at the office

Our little Madi girl had a long day and passed out on the couch early in the evening.  She's just so cute, I can't resist taking hundreds of pictures of her!

Happy Birthday Logan!

Project 365 Day 71 - 3/12/11
Our little friend, Logan, turned 3 last month!  He had a fantastic tractor party at his house with lots of good friends and fun times!  I caught this picture of him seconds after he crammed a handful of candy in his mouth!  So busted little man!!  haha!

Sorry Andrew, but I told you this would make the blog!  Dad's can have fun at kid parties too!

spring is coming!

Daffodils!!  I had just noticed on this day that our daffodils were about to bloom.  These were my Grandpa's favorite flower and years ago he planted some along their whole drive way (about a mile).  Each year they bloom and multiply in numbers, so now there's probably hundreds of them.  I always think of my Grandpa when I see them and I was so happy when we discovered that we had daffodils at our house too!

low...ride...er....

Luke loves to "drive" Daddy's work truck.  He looks like a natural behind the wheel.  I'm so glad we have a few years before that actually happens!  He's into watching NASCAR with Jeff now and likes to yell "wreckin' wreckin' wreckin'" whenever there is a crash during the race.  So the other day, Jeff took Luke for a ride in the Toyota to the end of the road and back.  He punched the gas a little while turning into our drive way got a little sideways.  Luke was laughing and yelling "wreckin' wreckin' Daddy!"  Aye!!

the calm after the storm

After a little rain, the clouds breaking up in the sky on this particular evening made a gorgeous foothill sunset!  I love where I live!

"In God We Trust"

I found myself, once again, searching for some inspiration for something to photograph.  Its really hard finding some thing e-v-e-r-y day!  While cleaning out one of our closets, I came across these sheets of uncut dollar bills.  Score!  It was easy to figure out what to do from there and I really like the message on the back!!

Project "NOT" 365

I'm baaack!!  Did you miss me?  I feel terrible that I haven't posted anything in a really long time.  I really have no excuse except for we have just been busy with life and somethin' had to give for a while.  I did still manage to get some good shots for the month of March, but just not every single day.  So my Project 365 has become Project Not So 365.  But I have started back strong for April and look forward to showing you some great photos!  I'll be posting all my "catch up" work over the next couple of days, so be looking for it!

Here's a couple to start off with....

We went to a birthday party in the beginning of March.  Luke got to see some of his friends, play in a bounce house, grub on candy, and.....drum roll.....ride horses!  His favorite!!  We had a great time and Luke talked about "Beano" the horse (who's real name in Vino) for weeks.  Thanks Molly for the great party and horsey rides!

best buds

These two are just too funny....one minute they are throwing blows and fighting over toys... and the next minute they are the cutest little angels and totally love each other!  Luke and Logan, we love you crazy boys!

working up a storm

We woke up Saturday morning expecting to see a winter wonderland outside.  The weather people had been building the hype all week saying that we were going to get 3-6 inches of snow.  Guess what we got?  Nothin'!  Not one flake!  As much as I really don't like the snow, I have to admit I was a little disappointed.

On the bright side, the sun was shining and the sky was gorgeous with big fluffy storm clouds building up.  It finally did snow that day...we got a good covering, but then the sun came out again and melted it almost immediately.

Project 365 Day 57 - 2/26/11

horse mechanic

Give a boy some tools and he'll fix anything!  We caught Luke "repairing" his bouncy horse the other day.  He said to us, "I fix Ucky."  Ucky is Lucky, the name of his horsey.  This was definitely worthy of being the photo of the day.  That kid cracks me up!

baby food!

We are back at it again.....makin' baby food!  I am such a huge proponent of homemade baby food...its super easy and sooo good for your babies.  I like the fact that you know exactly whats in your baby food and it tastes/smells like the real food should be....well, because it IS the real food!  For any one who is interested, check out http://freshbaby.com/ or http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/ for some great info and recipes.

Here's our set up and our little helper!

Project 365 Day 55 - 2/24/11

:: blond moment ::

We've all been there.....Its the end of a crazy work day, time to go home.  You gather your things and rush out the door to catch the elevator.  You reach into your purse to get your keys out....hmmm, where are my keys?  You get to your car and practically empty the entire contents of your purse onto the hood.....and still no keys.  You look up and THERE they are.....in the ignition, right where you left them!!  Oh yeah, that was totally me on Wednesday!

Every year I complain about having to pay the AAA bill, but this day I couldn't have been more grateful for that little card!  A quick phone call and 30 minutes later, voila!  My keys were rescued by the nice tow truck man as he told me about his entire workers' comp claim.  Awesome!

got fence?

I know, a coil of barbed wire is not a very exciting subject....but....this rusty old wire just begged for me to takes its picture.  (Remember my slight obsession with antiques?)  We have a lot of this old stuff around as we are in the process (a LONG process) of replacing and reconfiguring our fence around our property.  This is just our little reminder of how much we've already accomplished on the project AND that we need to keep pressing forward.  Hopefully by the time Luke is old enough for his first show steer, we will be done! Ha!

Project 365 Day 53 - 2/22/11

:: chester ::

Last, but certainly not least, meet the fifth and final member of our animal family... Chester.  Under all that furry fluffiness is 15 pounds of fat cat, making him the largest kitty I have ever owned.  Like his sister Abby, he is quite the hunter.  He is also the more sociable cat.  I love that when we come home and pull in the drive way Chester comes running across the yard to greet us.  He loves a good scratch behind the ears, being brushed with the dog brush, and just hanging out with us outside.  Against his will, I made him pose for a mini photo shoot....I think he secretly liked it!

Project 365 Day 52 - 2/21/11

antiques?

I love love love antique stuff.  I get super excited when I find something really old, but really cool with that rustic distressed look.  While searching outside the other day for a subject to shoot, I found this cool tractor seat.  It was like Christmas!  I think it may have been in Jeff's "throw-away" pile...but now its going in my "useless-treasures-that-I-will-never-let-Jeff-throw-away" pile.  Its an antique, right?

little spectators

This is how the Brown Kids do Donkey Basketball.....Madi sleeps through the entire event and Luke stares intently saying "I wide donkey!" repeatedly!  (Luke translation: I want to ride the donkey.)

Donkey Basketball!

Oh yeah....Donkey Basketball is a REAL thing....people actually ride donkeys while playing basketball, but the rules are just a little different.  If you have never been a spectator at one of these games you are seriously missing out!  Its hysterical!!  This event is a fundraiser at our local high school for the Future Farmers of America (FFA) students.  The participants are FFA kids and its usually boys against girls.  I can remember going to Donkey Basketball to watch my cousins play back in the late '80's....that's how long the tradition has been around.  I even played when I was in high....but not well!  It was that whole 'slinging my butt on a donkey while holding a basketball' that just didn't work out for me! Haha!  Anyways, it was a great, aggressive game full of excitement and laughs...and the girls team almost won!

Project 365 Day 49 - 2/18/11

date day

I love date days or date nights or ANY time alone with my hubby without kids!  You don't realize how precious that alone time is with your spouse until you have children and crazy schedules, and no time.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my kids to the end of the universe and back, but I also love my hubby and having those special times where we remember why we love each other.

With the help of daycare and Grandma, we were able to have a few hours to ourselves the other day to go on a date....and honestly, we didn't even know what to do.  We ended up stuffing ourselves stupid at lunch and then went bowling!  Seriously, I can't even remember the last time I bowled!  We had a GREAT time and not to brag or anything....but I won 3 out of 4 games!
